About me

Born in 1980, François Libère fell into the art world at an early age.

He created his first comic strips at the age of 7, then went on to study History of the Arts and Visual Arts.

After trying his hand at various media and practices (comics, storyboards, film, graphic design, illustration for young people), it was in 2012 that painting and landscapes came to the fore.

The landscape, initially as the subject of his paintings as a "Sunday painter", as he likes to affectionately recall when he recalls his early days, then became a real wandering of the eye and the mind, ending with a commitment to our Mother Earth.

In 2021, he became a professional artist and went so far as to set up an artistic association with his wife, "LINKUBA(R)TEUR", whose aim is to promote local artists by organising exhibitions in local heritage sites.

In 2023, he discovered Live-Painting with harpist Elen Hervochon. The two artists, with the help of curator Sibdella Subtil, staged the "Inspiration Sylvestre" recital, during which the painter created a work on the theme of the Forest, inviting the spectator to daydream, always with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of the Nature in which he was born.

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Urgency.

The urgency to paint. The urgency to express oneself. A climatic emergency.

I've always been close to nature, fascinated by its animals, its trees, its forests, its mountains, all that immensity.

My work is intended to give thanks to the landscape, but it also carries a message of awareness. We're on the brink of an ecological catastrophe and may have already passed the point of no return, but it's still crucial to get away from navel-gazing and protect our green heritage!

I work fast, mainly with acrylics and knives, using rapid gestures and primary colours as the basis for my mixtures.

I prefer canvas and wood as supports for my work and incorporate earth into my colours to give a maximum of natural texture.

The idea is to take the eye, the gaze and perception on a journey. The light must be used to modulate and shape the work so as never to tire; to allow us to constantly discover new details. In the same way as a daily walk, when the changing weather and our mood of the moment give us a new reading of the landscape stretching out before us.

So I create a mise en abyme of Nature in my paintings, literally giving the viewer the subject he or she should be looking at: the Earth. This nourishing Earth that suffers, rumbles and yet is so incredibly beautiful.

Retranscribing the layers of the landscape, the grandeur, power, beauty and fragility of Mother Nature.

"Art is not made to be constant but to adapt to the eyes of those who take the time to admire what the artist has taken care to manifest through his canvases".
